invite you to celebrate the wedding of
Welcome to Jajah and Kurt's wedsite! We’re so glad you’re here! Seat yourself comfortably, enlist a willing feline, and pour yourself a beverage, for now shall we weave you tales of wedding FAQs as fantastic as the day is long...
Once upon time (erm, 4 months ago), we began planning for our wedding. And as we thought back to all the people who have supported, loved, jammed, jived, danced, and dined with us through the years, we realized there were lots of you, an embarrassment of riches for two proclaimed introverts.
We did not want to have a giant wedding. And we wanted to spend more than a hazy, passing second with you, because you helped bring us to this day.
So, we’re having two celebrations, a Day wedding, and a Night wedding. And though we adore you, we’re not letting you choose which one you go to. We’re crazy, not insane.
Check your paper invitation to see if you’re dancing with us during the day, or the night. Or, email us to clarify!
Our morning wedding will be in the historic Ida Noyes Hall at the University of Chicago. Jajah teaches at the law school on campus, and both Jajah and Kurt have frolicked through Ida Noyes many times. Kurt’s Grandma Dorothy also attended the University when she was younger, and has fond memories of the building. It’s a lovely, photogenic, Hogwartsian building.
10:00am – 10:30am: Wedding ceremony in the Ida Noyes Hall Courtyard
10:30am – 4:00pm: Wedding reception and brunch in the Ida Noyes Hall Cloister Club
4:00pm Farewells: We did it! Thank you! Feel free to explore the beautiful campus or nap on the Midway.
Free parking on campus should not be hard to find. Street parking should be plentiful, and most university lots are free on the weekends.
We love to see you got up nice, but no need to order a special tux (unless you want to)! We’ll also be dancing during the reception, so bring your moves.
Our dear friend Carole, along with her generous neighbors, has agreed to let us use their terrace for the night ceremony and reception. Please check your paper invitations for the address.
The terrace sits right against Lake Michigan, open to waves and wind. It’s a beautiful, private space, and home to Carole, her neighbors, and visiting artists. We’re asking everyone be extra kind and mindful of this special space, and the warm-hearted folks who have allowed us to use their home.
Delicious Chipotle. Delicious bevs. Delicious gypsy jazz music.
Parking is tough around the Terrace. To prevent frustrated circling, we suggest you take public transportation, Uber, Lyft, or the good old fashioned taxi, if possible! Otherwise, check out the paid parking structures marked below.
We love to see you got up nice, but no need to order a special tux (unless you want to)! Bring a light jacket, since temperatures can be cooler by the lake at night.
Costumes encouraged. Go for broke and don’t worry about out-shining the bride. You can’t HAHAHAH. Also, there will be dancing.
For those of you who plan to in Lincolnshire, we’ve booked a suite of rooms at the Lincolnshire Marriott Resort — not to be confused with the Lincolnshire Courtyard Marriott! Rooms are $109/night. Feel free to take advantage of the deal at this link.
For those of you who want to stay in Chicago, we suggest looking to airbnb.com for accommodations, as well as searching for hotels. If you have questions, reach out to us!
For those of you who are planning to stay in or around Lincolnshire, we will be providing a comfy shuttle bus from the Lincolnshire Marriott Resort to the DAY WEDDING sites, and back.
Public transit options from downtown and elsewhere in the city can be navigated with Google maps.
See parking sections, broken down by Day and Night Weddings.
Anyone who's been to our apartment knows that our stuff-to-space ratio is unreasonably high. We tried to do the registry thing, we did! We scoured the internet for things that a wedded couple must have in our lives. Yet, we are fortunate to have the problem of having too much stuff already.
That said, if you'd like to contribute toward the Someday-Buy-A-House Fund, our callers are standing by to take your donation.
Oh, and if you're helping out with the wedding in any way, don't you dare write us a check, or we'll come after you! You've already given plenty!
